<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">CILIP GIG are
delighted to announce an in-person visit to the </span><a href="https://www.bankofengland.co.uk/" title="Bank of England website"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">Bank
of England</span></a><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">’s Library
and Archive. The Bank of England is the UK’s central bank. Its mission is to
maintain monetary and financial stability for the people of the United Kingdom.
Founded in 1694, the Bank was originally established to serve as banker to the
Government. Today, its responsibilities are much broader.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">This visit
offers a rare opportunity to explore the Bank’s Library and Archive. Attendees
will gain insight into how the service operates and supports research activity.
The programme will also include the chance to view selected Special Collections
items and take a tour of the Archive store.</span></p>
<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">The Bank of
England building is located on Threadneedle Street, by Bank junction in the
City of London. The area is well served by public transport, with nearby tube
and rail stations and bus stops. Although there is no parking at the Bank of
England, there are cycle stands and cycle hire docking stations nearby, and the
nearest car parks are approximately half a mile away. Further information about

<p class="MsoNormal"><span style="font-family: Arial, sans-serif;">This event is free, but please note that places are limited to <strong>15</strong> people due to space limitations and advanced booking is required. Visitors must bring official photographic identification, such as a passport or driving licence, in order to gain entry to the building.</span></p>
